Night Diving

Oh the infamous night dives; so romantic diving under the moonlight and a starry sky in searhc of Octopi and other nocturnal creatures. Unfortunately, we were unable to see any Octopi cause Ronny (our danish Dive Master) stole it. No actually we were a big, clunky group of six night divers finishing up our Advanced course so it was a bit harder to sneak up on them. We did get ot see a sting ray, hermit crabs, lobsters, and some other bizarre fish, as well as plankton and a bit of phosphorescents when we turned off our lights. The best part of the night dive, though, was probably going to and from the dive sight. Our fabulous Captain Cookie played a Burning Man mix from Pete´s ipod and we danced under the moonlight in matching instructor robes to fabulous beats.

After we finished our dive we busted open a Jungle Juice concock-tion we had premade before the dive and had a dance party on the way back to CrossCreek.

This was followed by a delicious dinner made by our French-Canadian cook and friend, Gislen, then a mini-nap and out to the local Treetop bar. I love my life here. And it honestly is not ´that´ expensive here. I mean sure I spent a lot of money on dive courses but that included free room, meals here are cheap, and we cook our own food most of the time. Like this morning we made a huge breakfast for three of us and it was approxiamately 2 dollars a piece, not too shabby.
Oh and I am moving into Lynn´s spare room tomorrow cause her roommate is moving out and her mother is coming next week. So I get a free room for a week with a huge double bed and a hot shower!!!! Yay!!! I will repay her with for her kindness with awesome food and helping her clean.

Oh and we saw a green moray yesterday at the wreck we dove at. It was about four feet long, GREEN, and looked kinda like Ursula´s eels in the Little Mermaid. Pretty sweet. We unfortunately only have one more free day of diving left which we will spend tomorrow morning going to awesome far off dive sights and then afterward we are going to stop at one of the Cayes at a fish factory to pick up fish for the weekly barbeque. ´Tis the life for me! I am pretty sad to only have two more dives left, but Pete and I are pretty content here and are thinking about staying for a bit and maybe doing another night dive to go in search of Octopi, maybe at another dive shop so we can dive with Lynn or Brad, but honestly they don´t have matching robes for us (that look exactly like Newberg waterpolo robes from State that one year for all the Oregon polo people) or Cookie (the best captain on the island). So we will see. I guess I should also check my bank account.

Ok I should be off we are going to take the kayaks out and explore the island, maybe even go up to the North Shore and find our own private beach.... yo ho, yo ho, a pirate´s life for me!
